Christian Roots Academy was founded in 2019 by Sofia and Cody Marshall with a simple but powerful conviction: that every child deserves an education rooted in faith, love, and excellence. What began as a dream to serve the Denton community has grown into a thriving private school where children are known by name, celebrated for who they are, and equipped for a lifetime of learning.
Sofia grew up in New York and came to Texas where she later met her husband, Cody, and stepson. Now together they have two daughters, Grace and Suri. Sofia graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and taught K-3rd grade at LISD for over ten years. Although she loved teaching in the school district, she was excited to start her own private school (CRA) where she could also teach children about the love of Jesus.
Cody was born and raised in Texas. He has three children and is married to his wife, Sofia. Although he worked in sales most of his adult career, he later became a certified life coach and ordained minister. He has always felt called to serve the Kingdom of God and has had the opportunity to serve in ministry for over a decade, where he quickly realized that he had the most fun and passion for Kids Ministry. He was so excited to join his wife and start CRA!
We believe the early years are sacred. The habits, values, and sense of curiosity a child develops shape everything that follows. That is why we pour our hearts into every classroom moment — from morning prayer to engaging hands-on learning — ensuring each child leaves our school with deep roots of faith and a bright future.

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the root of all wisdom and knowledge. Proverbs 22:6 guides our approach: train up a child in the way they should go.
Every Child Is Known by God
Each child is fearfully and wonderfully made. We honor that truth by seeing, celebrating, and nurturing the individual gifts God has placed in every student.
Faith & Learning Are Inseparable
We do not add faith to education — faith is the root from which all learning grows. Spiritual formation and academic excellence flourish together in our classrooms.
Family Is the First Community
We partner with families as the primary nurturers of their children, walking alongside parents and guardians with transparency, encouragement, and shared purpose.
